Notes: Verdens Gang, or VG as it is printed on the masthead, stands for "the way of the world" and is the largest newspaper by circulation in Norway after overtaking Aftenposten back in 1981. The paper originated in the Norwegian resistance movement during the last part of World War II, and was founded as an independent daily shortly after the German capitulation in the springtime of 1945. It was the first tabloid in Norway, changing format in 1963. Both VG and Aftenposten are companies in the Schibsted-Consolidated media conglomerate. Dagbladet is Norway's third largest newspaper and was founded in 1869. It changed to a tabloid format in 1983. The word "Dagbladet" literally means "The daily paper". Dagbladet is owned by the privately held company AS Avishuset Dagbladet. Bergens Tidende is the largest regional newspaper serving the city of Bergens and the counties of Hordaland and Sogn og Fjordane.
